NAME: Yuri Egin SERIES: Blue Exorcist APPEARANCE: here. AGE: 27 CANON POINT: Chapter 106; two years after Satan's disappearance and before his taking of Section 13. She is not pregnant at this point in time, nor is she aware if Satan is even alive. CANON HISTORY: As a baby, Yuri was abandoned by her mother after the Egin family commits suicide. Raised by three homeless individuals, Yuri grows into a curious but lonely child. It is at this young age that she makes her first friend and unknowingly changes the course of her life. This creature, if it could even be called that, is a spirit known as a Rinka and for a long time-- it too plays with her. After the deaths of her guardians and meeting Shiro, Yuri is brought to the Asylum where she is regarded as a potential candidate to become an exorcist of the True Cross Order. By the time she grows into a woman, now a Lower Second Class exorcist, she has become a well-known Tamer and has written several books on the matter. It is also at this time that Rinka reappears in the body of one of Section 13's clone and seemingly only listens to her. Although progress is slow, it seems to be going well until Rinka breaks out and devours as much knowledge as he possibly can becoming the demon known as Satan in full. He escapes shortly after this and goes into hiding, an event that seemingly destroys Yuri due to the deaths he causes in his escape and partially blaming herself. After Satan's escape from Section 13, Yuri returns to daily life but seemingly awaits his inevitable return not fully believing that he has died. CANON PERSONALITY: It wasn't always so noticeable, of course. Her early years were spent in the care of three guardians that found her as a baby after she had been abandoned. They all worked to care for another despite being homeless but Yuri did not grow up the regular sort of life that most kids her age did. She lacked the normal sort of interaction with children her own age and the needed real world experiences that everyone goes through while growing up. And so, instead of socializing with friends or children her own age, Yuri was instead alone with the rinka being the one real constant in her life outside of her guardians. Because of this difficult upbringing, Yuri can sometimes come off as both naive and gullible. Her heart can become so very set on some plan or ideal that she does not stop and take the time to truly consider what is being offered to her. She just cares so very, very deeply that her unconditional love can sometimes blind her to things that might be obvious to others. Nevertheless her nativity does not stop her from pushing forward in her pursuit of bettering herself and reaching her goals. It also does not mean she is dumb as Yuri is, in fact, one of the smartest and talented Tamers of her generation. Having at, this point, written several books and taught classes while continuing her life's work on the nearby demon farm. Despite her kind nature, Yuri is absolutely devoted to both her friends and those that cannot protect themselves-- including demons. She is equally utterly determined when she sets her mind to something and wishes to be of use to both her friends and the people around her which means never giving up despite the odds. Her determination can come off hopelessly optimistic but she has fought and struggled toward proving herself capable of believing this way.Even if the odds are stacked against her, she doesn't back down without a fight and pushing back with everything she knows. She might stumble or even fall along the way but as she has grown, so has her determination to see things through and protect those that need protecting along with those that she cares about. Her self-sacrificing nature isn't always a good thing. As mentioned, she can sometimes be so focused on other that she does not put any thought into her own well-being. On the other hand, she can so be preoccupied trying to fix problems that she does not consider the other person or their own problems. As she's continued gotten older, she has begun to learn how to think about how she can help those around her without sacrificing her own thoughts or well-being in the process but still has a habit of not considering herself in the greater picture. Nevertheless, she has been shown to be incredibly hardworking in order to allow her confidence to grow. She studies hard and pushes herself into situations that would have once been impossible for her and tries not to doubt her skills versus her more talented peers. She's naturally a curious about everything, now unafraid to try new things and willing to learn if the situation should present itself. It's hard work but she is continuously working toward remaining confident in herself and upping her self-esteem. And if she does happen to fail? That's okay! Before she might have retreated away in embarrassment at her failures but now she has begun to learn that it's alright. No one is perfect and it's okay to try again! Friendship, if you couldn't figure out, is extremely important to Yuri. As mentioned, she is both loyal and dedicated to them even in the face of danger but it wasn't always so simple. Overall she is still growing and forever learning about the world around her. Still-- she is utterly determined to see things through and better herself. At times, she can come off naive or clueless but she works hard to right her mistakes. She still struggles with her confidence but has come a long way from the girl that hid away from everyone and never wished to venture outside of her garden.
